English For Speakers of Other Languages Academic Courses

  • English/Language Development *Level I and II (ED610, ED612, ED620, ED622) (½ credit, ¾ credit)

    Students in Grades 9 and 10 who have been identified as Multilingual Learners (MLs)/English Learners (ELs) are provided with a Tier I Instructional Program to improve their English proficiency.

    Participation in this program provides a structured focus in the areas of listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills.

    This course expands students' essential English communication skills and cultural knowledge and introduces the academic language of classroom studies.

    Students will develop oral classroom skills and reading strategies, expand their vocabulary, and use more complex sentence patterns.

    Students will also learn how to use school and community resources.
